Appointments

Pharmacy First enables community pharmacists to supply prescription-only medicines, including antibiotics and antivirals where clinically appropriate, to treat seven common health conditions without the need to visit a GP.

Who to see: Community Pharmacist.

Suitable for patients aged 1 to 17 years.

Outside of these ages, a pharmacist can still offer advice, but you may need to see a GP for treatment.

A pharmacist will offer you advice, treatment or refer you to a GP or other healthcare professional if needed.

Making your Appointment

We offer an on the day appointment system.  To book an appointment;

  • phone us on 01592 610640, Monday to Friday from 8.00am until 12.30pm and then again from 1.30pm to 5:30pm

When you get in touch, our Administration Team will ask for a brief overview of the reason for your call.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable type of appointment, this may be with doctor, nurse or other health professional.  We may also direct you to Pharmacy First or Pharmacy First Plus based on your symptoms.

Please note when all of our appointments are full, and if your request if urgent, you will be offered a Triage Slot with the Duty Doctor.  This will meant that the Duty Doctor will call you back to discuss your symptoms, give advice or make a suitable appointment.

Cancelling or Changing your Appointment

To cancel your Appointment:

  • phone us on 01592 610640, Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 5:30pm
  • reply to a Text Reminder by texting the word – Cancel

When cancelling an appointment we would appreciate a minimum of 24 hours notice, as this enables us to offer that appointment to someone else.

To change your Appointment:

  • phone us on 01592 610640, Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 5:30pm

When changing an appointment please call as soon as possible to re-schedule, as this enables us to offer that appointment to someone else.

Different Types of Appointment

We offer different types of Appointments:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • by text or email

Please note if you choose to have an appointment by phone or by text or email, these are more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Our Administration Team will aim to give you an appointment type of your choice but this is dependant on clinic appointment availablility on the day when you call.

GP Review/Follow-up Appointments

If a GP asks you to come back for a Review/Follow Up Appointment, we have specific times for these types of appointment.  These appointments can be booked in advance in person at our Reception Desk or by telephone our main phone number

When booking, please explain which GP has asked you to book a Review/Follow Up Appointment.  Our Administration Team will aim to make the appropriate appointment.

GP Appointment Times

Monday 8:30am to 12.00 noon and 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Tuesday 9.00am to 12.00 noon and 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Wednesday 8.30am to 12.00 noon and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Extended Hours – 7.30am to 8.30am (on a rotational basis between Wednesday’s and Thursday).  These appointments are pre-bookable

Thursday 9.00am to 12.00 noon and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Extended Hours – 7.30am to 8.30am  (on a rotational basis between Wednesday’s and Thursday).  These appointments are pre-bookable

Friday 8.30am to 12.00 noon and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Our Practice Clinic Staff are also available during the above times.  The Practice Nurse also offers 2 extended hours clinics from 7.30am to 8.30am on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

Home Visits

Whilst we like patients to come to the Practice to see a Health Professional, we appreciate this is not always possible.  If you feel that you too ill to come into the Practice or if you are housebound and need a home visit, you can request a Home Visit by telephoning 01592 610640 between 08:00 – 10:00 and speaking to our Administration who will advise the Duty Doctor of your request.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the Practice. Teh Duty Doctor will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind when requesting a home visit and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the Doctor to schedule house calls appropriately.

You can also be visited at home by a the Community Nursing Team if they are requested to do so by your GP. The Community Nursing Team only visit those patients who are housebound/to ill to visit the surgery.

Text Reminder Service

We have a Text Reminder Service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments. We also use the Text Service to ask patients to contact us following tests, when they are due annual check-ups and to send information from/about the Practice.

When you register with the Practice you will be asked to complete a form to give consent to us to send you Text Message.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
