When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and only call the surgery after sufficient time has elapsed. We would advise contacting hte practice after 7 days if you have not heard form us by then.
Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results and can only advise you on the Doctors comments. It is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior written permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Hospital Tests
It is the responsibility of the hospital consultant/doctor who requests a test to interpretate the result and advise the patient of the result. We are advised by the British Medical Association not to interpretate these results as we are not aware of the requesting doctors thought processes. THerefore, if you have had any procedures/tests carried out by the hospital you should contact that department direct for the results. If you are unsure who to telepohone a member of the admin team can advise the best contact at the hospital for you to discuss this.
