Appointments (During the Coronavirus Pandemic we will not be pre booking any appointments)
Appointments can be made by either coming to the reception desk (8.25 - 1730), telephoning between the hours of 08:00 and 17:30 or via the internet.
If you would like to make and/or cancel appointments via the internet, please ask Reception staff for a registration letter. This service is only available to book appointments for GPs and not our Nursing staff.
Our receptionists will endeavor to supply a suitable appointment for you at all times. Should you request to see a particular doctor we will make every effort to comply with your wishes. This may not be possible during times of leave/sickness etc.
On occasion the Practice will employ locum Doctors especially of peak holiday times, therefore it may not always be possible to see your normal doctor, however all locum doctors will have access to your medical records and can provide the necessary treatment required.
All appointments are for one patient per appointment.
If you feel that your condition is clinically urgent your details will be placed in Triage and a Clinician will call you back to discuss appropriate action.
Whilst the Doctors and Nurses endeavor to run to time they will, due to the clinical needs of the patient, possibly run late. If this happens we apologise for any inconvenience this causes. Please remember that the Doctor will also spend as much time with you as is clinically necessary.
Please note that, due to staffing, only urgent telephone calls should be made to the practice between 12:30 and 14:00 .
Reception staff will ask you for a reason for your appointment. This is not them being nosey, the GPs have asked them to do this to make sure patients receive the most appropriate level of care whether this is a Nurse or a Doctor. Please respect this request.
If you require Emergency Medical Attention phone the practice number (610640) informing the staff you have a "medical emergency" and one of the doctors will speak to you as soon as possible. Each doctor carries a mobile phone to facilitate their management of emergency cases. If you are unable to contact the practice you should contact the emergency services by dialling 999.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. If you are unable to contact the surgery to cancel your appointment and ask a family member or friend to cancel on your behalf, the person making the call must be able to confirm your identity (name, date of birth and address) and appointment date and time. If reception staff are unable to confirm your identity and appointment details, they will not be able to cancel the appointment.
Whilst we realise that sometimes unforeseen circumstances do occur we would ask that, as soon as possible, you advise the reason for missing an appointment. Due to the pressure on the system for appointments all DNAs are recorded and should we consider your history to be unacceptable we will write to you. If, despite warning letters, you continue to DNA we would remove you from our patient list.
